Remember ages ago when ~sasukegothman had a birthday? This is that cake! Well, not that cake, you know what I mean. Smitten Kitchen found it on the June eddition of Gormet which is good because I don't buy Gormet but she does and I wouldn't of gotten cake but now I do and so do you and let's just get on with this, shall we?

~~
Start by Preheat your oven to 400F. Then butter and flour a 9" round (I used a 10" and lo- the world has not ended).
Now put just less than .5 c milk in a containing device with .5 tbs lemon juice (if you don't have lemon juice you can use vinagar or you can be smart and use .5 c actual buttermilk, minus the added acidic stuff.)
Put 1 c flour, .5 ts baking powder, .5 ts baking soda and .25 ts salt in a bowl. Stir.
Meanwhile, beat 4 tbs butter (half a stick, .125 lb) until it looks "fluffy". Add 2/3 c sugar and the zest of 1 lemon and beat that until you give up on it looking fluffy ever ever agian. Then beat in 1 egg and watch it magically get fluffy again. Thank God for science. Add in your (fake) buttermilk and .5 ts vanilla and dance as you say "swishyswishyswish". Realize you look kind of stupid. Laugh at yourself as you mix in the flour stuff. Pour the batter into the pan and smooth with a spatula.
Scatter 1 c raspberries on top of batter (or, alternitivly, sing the yellow brick road song and put them in a spiral-y swirl. And pretend raspberries are yellow.
Bake 20-25 minutes. Sprinkle on 1.5 tbs sugar and wait until it cools to touch the pan. Honestly, you'd think I'd learn...

By the way, if you're one of those metric people, Deb figured that all out for you. Because she's better than I am.
